📐 Scoring & Normalization

How MHT-CET Marks Are Normalized to Percentile

MHT-CET 2026 is conducted in multiple shifts across different dates. Because each shift may have a slightly different difficulty level, raw marks are not directly comparable between students who appeared in different sessions. To ensure fairness, DTE Maharashtra uses a percentile-based normalization process.

Your percentile score represents the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below your marks in your shift. So a 95 percentile means you scored better than 95% of all students in your slot — not that you scored 95 out of 100.

🔢
Formula
Percentile = 100 × (Rank of candidate below you ÷ Total candidates in your shift)
🔄
Multi-shift Fairness
Scores from different slots are converted to percentile within each shift before merging.
📉
Variation Range
Same raw marks can yield ±2–4 percentile difference depending on which shift you appeared in.
📋
CRL Rank
Common Rank List combines all shifts. Lower rank = better position in the merit list.
🔬 PCM vs PCB Streams

PCM vs PCB — Which Score Applies to You?

MHT-CET 2026 is conducted separately for PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) students. Your stream determines which colleges and courses you are eligible for.

🔵 PCM Stream
  • Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech)
  • Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, ENTC, IT
  • 856 colleges across Maharashtra
  • Total 200 marks: Phy 50 + Chem 50 + Maths 100
🟢 PCB Stream
  • Pharmacy (B.Pharm / D.Pharm)
  • Pharmaceutical sciences, Pharm.D
  • Separate merit list from PCM
  • Total 200 marks: Phy 50 + Chem 50 + Bio 100
💡 Tip: If you appeared in both PCM and PCB exams, you will receive two separate percentile scores. Use the stream toggle above to calculate each one individually.
🎯 Strategy

How to Improve Your MHT-CET Percentile

A small improvement in raw marks can jump your percentile significantly in the competitive range (80–95 percentile). Here is where smart preparation pays off:

Focus on Chemistry — highest ROI
Chemistry (50 marks, 1 mark/question) is often the most scoring subject. Mastering inorganic and organic reactions can add 8–12 marks with moderate effort.
📐
Maths accuracy over speed
Maths carries 2 marks per question (100 marks total). Each correct answer is worth twice as much. Focus on Calculus, Algebra, and Probability — MHT-CET's highest-weightage chapters.
🔁
Solve previous year papers
MHT-CET repeats question patterns. Solving 5+ years of papers boosts both speed and accuracy. Focus especially on 2022, 2023, and 2024 papers.
Time management per section
You get 180 minutes for 150 questions. Aim for ~35 min on Physics, ~35 min on Chemistry, ~70 min on Maths/Biology, keeping 20 minutes for review.
🚫
No negative marking — attempt all
MHT-CET has no negative marking. Leaving questions blank costs you marks. Make educated guesses on questions you're unsure about, especially Physics numerical questions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this calculator 100% accurate?
No calculator can guarantee exact accuracy because MHT-CET percentile depends on normalization across multiple shifts and thousands of students. This calculator uses recent CAP Round data to give a close estimate, usually within a small range. Always treat it as a planning tool, not a final score.
What is the difference between marks, percentile, and rank?
Marks are your raw score out of 200. Percentile is a relative score showing what percentage of students you scored better than, so 90 percentile means you outperformed 90% of test-takers. Rank or CRL is your actual position in the common merit list. A higher percentile means a lower, better rank.
My MHT-CET exam had 150 questions. Why does the calculator use 200 marks?
MHT-CET has 150 questions but 200 marks total because Maths or Biology questions carry 2 marks each, while Physics and Chemistry questions carry 1 mark each. Physics is 50 marks, Chemistry is 50 marks, and Maths or Biology is 100 marks.
Can I use both PCM and PCB percentiles for college admission?
Some students appear for both PCM and PCB. For Engineering admissions, your PCM percentile is used. For Pharmacy admissions, the applicable PCB or PCM score depends on the course and official eligibility rules. Check the CET Cell counselling notice for your exact case.
Why can the same marks give different percentiles in different years?
Each year has a different applicant pool, paper difficulty, and shift normalization. The same raw score can produce a different percentile depending on how other students performed. Use the estimate as a reference range, not a fixed result.
How do I convert my percentile to a CRL rank?
Use this formula: CRL Rank = (1 - Percentile / 100) x Total Candidates. For example, if your percentile is 95 and there are 5,50,000 candidates, the approximate rank is 27,500. The calculator estimates this automatically after you enter your marks.
When will the official MHT-CET 2026 result be declared?
The official MHT-CET result is published on cetcell.mahacet.org after the exam and normalization process. After results, the CAP Round process usually moves through registration, document verification, option form filling, and seat allotment.

💰 Education Loan

How to Get an Education Loan for Engineering College in Maharashtra

Once you secure admission through MHT-CET CAP rounds, financing your engineering degree is the next major step. Education loans cover tuition fees, hostel charges, books, and even a laptop. Here is what every student in Maharashtra should know about education loan options in 2026.

🏦
Government Bank Loans
SBI Student Loan scheme offers up to ₹10 lakh without collateral and up to ₹1.5 crore with security. Interest rates start around 8.15% p.a. Under the Vidya Lakshmi portal, you can apply to multiple banks in one form.
🏢
Private Bank & NBFC Loans
HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, and Avanse Financial Services offer fast-approval education loans with flexible repayment. Some lenders disburse in 5–7 working days with minimal documentation for top-ranked colleges.
📋
Documents You Need
Admission letter, fee structure, mark sheets (10th, 12th), MHT-CET scorecard, income proof of parents, Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements of 6 months, and passport-size photographs.
📉
Government Subsidies
Under the Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS) scheme, students from EWS families (income below ₹4.5 lakh/year) get full interest subsidy during the moratorium period. Apply through your bank on the Vidya Lakshmi portal.
💡 Pro Tip: Apply for an education loan before your CAP Round 1 seat is confirmed — pre-approval speeds up the fee payment process and prevents seat cancellation due to payment delays.

Repayment typically begins 6–12 months after course completion or 1 year after getting a job, whichever is earlier. Compare interest rates, processing fees, and repayment tenure before choosing a lender. Interest paid on education loans qualifies for Section 80E deduction under the Income Tax Act — a significant saving during repayment years.
